Step into a night where classical music transcends the ordinary, with Minnesota Orchestra’s Principal Cellist Tony Ross and ProMusica Minnesota’s Artistic Director and Pianist Bethel Balge at the helm.
This distinguished duo is set to grace the stage with an evening dedicated to the stirring duets of Lucas Foss, Felix Mendelssohn, and Dmitri Shostakovich. Through the deep, resonant voice of the cello and the emotive power of the piano, the audience will be taken on a journey where music speaks directly to the soul. From the invigorating energy of Foss’s Capriccio to the sublime beauty of Mendelssohn’s D Major Cello Sonata, and the profound depth of Shostakovich’s Cello Sonata, this performance promises a profound exploration of musical emotions and technical brilliance.

Adding to the allure of the evening, Chancellor Janet Ericksen invites guests to a public reception in Oyate Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m., before the curtains rise. This prelude to the night’s performance offers a chance to mingle, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience of musical mastery. This event not only highlights the exceptional talent of Tony Ross and Bethel Balge but also celebrates the communal spirit of music and its power to connect us all.
