Open Mic Nights
Take the Mic: September Open Mic Night in Morris
One song. One poem. One person finally working up the nerve to step on stage.
That’s what Morris Open Mic Night is all about, and there’s one more chance to experience it this year.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Morris Unity Fund is bringing the community together for an evening of music, poetry, spoken word and local creativity. This month’s event moves indoors to the Stevens County Historical Society & Museum, but the spirit stays the same: a welcoming place to support local performers, share something of your own or simply settle in and listen.
September Open Mic Night

Date: Saturday, Sept. 26
Open Mic: Starts at 7 p.m.
Location: Stevens County Historical Society & Museum
Admission: Free
Bonus: Free childcare is provided.
Bring a song, spoken word piece, poem or instrument and take the stage, or just come to listen and support the people who do. Everyone is welcome.
View Facebook EventCome Early for the Clothing & Costume Swap
Before the performances begin, stop by the Community Clothing & Costume Swap from 6–8 p.m.
Bring clean clothes and costumes you’re ready to pass along, or simply bring a bag and see what you find. With Halloween right around the corner, it’s a great chance to swap costumes along with everyday clothing.
Your Turn to Take the Stage
You don’t need to be a professional performer to participate. Open Mic Night was created as a supportive place for local artists to share their work, hone their craft and connect with other creative people in the community.
Musicians, poets and spoken word performers are all invited to participate. Not interested in performing? That’s just as easy. Come be part of the audience, discover local talent and help create the kind of room where people feel comfortable giving the mic a try.
